When is a pressed ceramic crown recommended?
Digital design, guaranteed success!
When a denture needs to meet high aesthetic requirements, the E.max pressed ceramic crown is most often recommended for our patients in the front region. Lithium disilicate-based pressed ceramics are the most modern, most beautiful solution for the aesthetic rehabilitation of the teeth today.
The pressed ceramic metal-free crown, which is completely biocompatible, does not cause allergies. With E.max metal-free crowns, many aesthetic problems – shape and colour – can be remedied.
This type of ceramic is pressed under high pressure during firing. Pressed ceramics can also be made on root-treated teeth, as they cover the discoloured stump to some extent and are aesthetic due to their high glass fiber content. In conventional crowns and bridges, the metal frame blocks light transmission. The pressed ceramic is fully adapted to the tooth colour and the light transmission of the tooth can be fully preserved.

What are the benefits of a pressed ceramic crown?
Advantages of the pressed ceramic crown:
-
It can also be used in case of metal allergies
-
The light transmittance of the crowns is almost identical to that of the natural teeth
-
There is no metallic grey stripe at the edge of the crown in the gum line
-
Full ceramic
-
They are suitable for the flawless correction of aesthetic defects of anterior teeth
-
Much less tooth material needs to be ground down compared to a traditional metal crown

We will suggest the most suitable solution for you, taking into consideration all aspects during your consultation with our dental expert. We will also assess your current oral health status.
If the pressed ceramic crown is the best option for you, then your quote and treatment plan will include the treatment schedule with the cost breakdown.
The individual treatment steps are as follows (the process is shorter that in the case of metal or zirconium crowns): preparation of the tooth/teeth, impression, followed by a matte try-on and final gluing.
E.max veneer vs e.max crown – same technology, different extent of preparation
The technology is the same, the difference is in the level of preparation. The pressed ceramic veneer is placed on the front surface, so that the outer surface is ground minimally, while in the case of the crown covering the entire tooth, the entire surface of the tooth is prepared.
We do not always recommend veneers for the lower teeth – on the one hand because of the strength of the bite, and on the other hand because they peel off the smaller tooth surface more easily; in such cases, the crown is the ideal choice.
We often use a crown for a tooth with a filling because in that case the crown is a more suitable and stable construction.
