When is a metal-ceramic crown recommended?
The metal-ceramic crown is a reliable method of tooth replacement that has been used for a long time. Many people choose it primarily because of its price / value ratio. The base of the metal-ceramic crown is formed by a metal frame, to which natural porcelain is applied in layers, in order to make the replacement as lifelike as possible. The metal-free, all-ceramic version is called a pressed ceramic crown.
It is a perfect choice in the chewing zone, but it can also be chosen in the front areas, although today more and more people are choosing metal-free zirconia porcelain or pressed ceramic crowns to the visible area.
A metal-ceramic crown is completed in a relatively short time, so there is no need to wait weeks for a beautiful smile. If you don’t want to spend a day without replacement, we will make a temporary replacement for you!

The eternal question – metal-ceramic crown, metal-free zirconia porcelain, or possibly pressed ceramic?
Although the metal-ceramic crown has many advantages, this type does not always result in the highest aesthetic and most natural look that a zirconium crown can produce.
As already mentioned, most people choose metal-ceramic crowns only for the back, chewing zone. No wonder it is highly recommended here due to its load capacity and excellent price / value ratio.
A further difference may be that in the case of metal-framed crowns, the appearance of a grey lane at the neck of the teeth or at the edge of the gums may occur later, in the case of zirconia porcelain crowns this phenomenon should not be expected. Due to the aesthetic differences, we recommend the zirconia porcelain crown in the visible front region. The pressed ceramic crown with even more aesthetic characteristics is recommended in the case of restoration with solo crowns.
