Dental bridge: the fastest solution to missing teeth
Do you want to replace your missing tooth / teeth quickly? The solution is a dental bridge!
It is recommended to use a bridge to replace one or more teeth in order to eliminate the aesthetic problems caused by the deficiency and to restore the function of chewing and speaking.
The bridge consists of a crown glued to a support pillar, which can be a natural tooth or an implant. The gap is then filled with artificial tooth / teeth, this part is the so-called pontic.
Fortunately, there are now several ways to replace lost, extracted teeth:
-
Dental bridge (and its supporting pillar, the dental crown)
-
Partially removable – or full removable denture
-
Dental implant
In order to determine which would be the best alternative for you, you will definitely need a consultation with our dental expert. During our consultation we will also assess your current oral health status.

Why is it important to eliminate tooth loss?
Due to tooth loss:
-
Below the deficient area the bone tissue can start to atrophy and weaken
-
The unprotected part can become inflamed more easily
-
Adjacent teeth can move in place of the missing tooth
-
Your gums may be more vulnerable
-
Chewing will be less effective
-
One-sided chewing can also occur, putting strain on the joints of the jaw

Types of bridges
Depending on the preparation of the bridge, we distinguish a bridge based on adjacent teeth and a bridge built on a dental implant.
In the first case, the absence of one or more teeth is fixed by using the neighbouring teeth as pillars to build a dental bridge on them. However, the adjacent teeth must be completely intact, healthy, and stable to be prepared as support pillars.
The bridge built on your own teeth is a quick solution and provides a perfect aesthetic effect. The surface of the intact teeth holding the bridge should be shaved down before fitting, which does not endanger the healthy condition of the teeth.
If this solution is not possible, our specialists will suggest another solution for you.

Thanks to modern dental technology, dental bridges can now be easily attached to implants. One of the biggest advantages of implant-supported bridges is that they can stably replace multiple tooth deficiency with an optimal amount of implants. This procedure is an ideal solution even in the case of complete tooth loss, using a so-called roundhouse bridge.
Odontoplasty / Enameloplasty of the intact adjacent teeth is not required in the case of implant-supported bridges, and they provide a more stable, long life solution. In addition, the bone in the concerned area will be evenly loaded, thus avoiding atrophy and weakening of the bone.
